A blank, ready-to-complete NEC4 defect notification. Record what is not in accordance with the Scope, where it is, the requirement not met, and the correction period — with a correction record to close it out.
The defect correction period runs from notification (or from Completion for defects found before it). If the responsible party does not correct the defect within the period, the Client may assess the cost of having the defect corrected by others and that cost is recoverable (clause 45).
Complete section 1 with a sequential defect notification number and the party responsible for correcting the defect.
Describe the defect factually in section 2 and pin down its location, then reference the Scope / specification requirement it fails to meet in section 3.
Set out the correction required and the correction period in section 4 — the period runs from notification, or from Completion for defects found beforehand.
Attach evidence (photographs, test results) and list it in section 5 so the defect is unambiguous.
Use the correction record in section 7 to close the defect out once corrected and retested — or to record acceptance of the defect under clause 44.
Enter your details and we'll email you a printable PDF of the Defect Notification Form — formatted for A4 and ready to use on site or in the office.
