A blank, ready-to-complete delay and extension of time notice. Set out the delaying event, the contractual grounds, the effect on the programme and critical path, and the extension claimed — notified promptly with records attached.
Notify promptly — most contracts require notice of delay within a set period of becoming aware, and continuing failure to notify can reduce or bar an extension of time. This notice does not waive any related compensation event or loss-and-expense claim, which should be notified separately.
Complete section 1 and cross-reference any earlier early warning or compensation event raised for the same matter.
Describe the delaying event factually in section 2 with the key dates, then tick the contractual ground(s) in section 3 and explain why the event qualifies.
Set out the programme effect in section 4 against the accepted or contract programme, and state whether the event hits the critical path.
Record your mitigation in section 5 — a demonstrated effort to reduce the delay supports the claim.
Serve the notice promptly, keep proof of service, and chase the recipient's response — many contracts impose a strict notification period.
